THE SCIENCE
Keratin is a primary component of human skin and plays a key role in the wound healing process. ProgenaMatrix harnesses this power in a novel, bio-inspired matrix.
HOW IT WORKS
ProgenaMatrix leverages the natural properties of human keratin to support every phase of wound healing.
Keratinocyte Activation
Human keratin stimulates keratinocyte activation and migration, essential for re-epithelialization.
Collagen Synthesis
Promotes fibroblast activation and collagen synthesis for wound bed granulation.
Immune Modulation
Modulates the immune response to create an environment conducive to healing.
Protease Resistance
Keratin resists protease degradation, allowing for longer effective treatment periods.
Clinical Evidence
A peer-reviewed study published in the International Wound Journal evaluated
ProgenaMatrix in Wagner grade one non-healing diabetic foot ulcers.

In Vitro Research
Keratinocyte Migration
Preclinical studies demonstrate that human keratin drives keratinocyte migration in vitro and accelerates wound closure in vivo.
In Vivo Results
Scratch assay studies demonstrate that keratinocytes migrate and proliferate into empty areas more quickly in the presence of human keratin, supporting the mechanism of accelerated re-epithelialization.
In Vitro Results
In a delayed-healing diabetic mouse model, human keratin matrix accelerated wound closure when compared to other advanced biomaterial products, supporting the clinical findings in chronic wound management.
Published Research
Across Wound Types
ProgenaMatrix has published clinical evidence across venous leg ulcers and pressure ulcers, in addition to the multi-center diabetic foot ulcer trial above. Download the full papers below.
